It’s been an absolutely insane year. The mad mad world has continued it’s stranglehold on the way everyone and everything functions. But does that stop our kids? Heck no.

It started oh so long ago, with a homeschool karate group. That group grew and grew, and came tests, and belts, an black belt team, and chucks, and Team Eclipse, and swords, and feet breaking boards. And then … COVID. And the world goes mad. But then comes distance learning with instructors teaching over Facebook Live. And karate in the park. And then candidate training. And more tests. And running. And spiders, v-sits, push ups. Oh so many push ups.

Then comes the test. THE TEST. The one that pulls you out of your comfort zone and makes you kick your way into a black belt.

Jen and I are so incredibly proud of these two. They’ve been black belts a YEAR today. And just this past weekend, they helped their friends achieve what they did behind masks and privately because this damn pandemic wouldn’t let them celebrate like normal. But that doesn’t matter. Cause they keep kicking. And student teaching. And swinging kamas and swords and chucks and staffs. And they keep throwing punches. You guys just watch, they’ll be second degree here soon. And maybe, just maybe, they’ll be on a stage this next time – showing EVERYONE what they know and how they continue to grow as awesome, fantastic people.

Thank you Mr Pederson. Thank you Ms Emma. Thank you Ms Kohler. And thank you Ms Schmidt.

Thank you Plumer Karate America for giving our kids strength. And confidence. Having awesome instructors that don’t give up even though our kids sometimes falter and wain or doubt themselves.
